Community Awareness Projects

2008 Victim Rights Week – Billboard Campaign

In April of 2008 we were awarded an OVC/Department of Justice Grant for a community awreness project, celebrating victim rights week while educating our community about victim rights and community based support programs.

Billboards were displayed countywide, garnering over 9 million exposures.   Our displays included powerful artwork and messages in both English and Spanish on topics such as:  The Crimes Compensation Program; Options for survivors of domestic violence; Rape and linkage with alcohol use; Elder exploitation, scams and schemes; and basic victim rights such as access to information.

We had supportive partnerships with the Department of Health, The Haven of RCS, and CASA.  Susan Carlini and Coleen Chaney deserve many thanks for writing the grant, designing the billboards, developing the partnerships and really taking the lead on getting the message out so effectively.
